At least for Society heraldry, it's "a hexagon."

hmmm....I'm not sure. What are you trying to do? Are you using it as a charge? Or a field division? Or..?

Actually the concertina in that drawing in my user icon is based on an octagon, not a hexagon...

Short story shorter my device didn't "pass" so I have to redesign it. I'm considering a "hexagon or" right smack dab in the middle. :)
