Thoughts on Ron... random

I was at class one of these days, feeling completely asleep, since I've had absolutely no sleep until today, when a thought hit my mind...

remembering Episode I....

Fear is the path to the Dark Side
Fear leads to Anger
Anger leads to Hate
Hate... leads to Suffering"How does that apply to Ron ( Read more... )

i think that's an accurate portrayal of ron...i'm not sure if he'd ever completely crossover (maybe though), but i certainly don't see him standing up to voldie the way that harry (or hermione for that matter) would.

OOTP made it very clear that ron was not going to be very helpful or useful to harry when times got rough, and harry (for some reason) chose not to involve ron in certain parts of his life. why is that? i don't see why jkr would deliberatly make ron so useless in ootp unless she was going somewhere with it.

I still haven't managed to discover why she did that, but it's very clear to me that she did... and, still, though I think it's cristal clear.. I've gotten people asking me how do I dare think that Ron won't be a main character in the upcoming part of the story, while Hermione will ( ... )

The thing I very much believe has been foreshadowed throughout the series is that Ron has weaknesses that can be and have yet to find a plot resolution and, at this point, I see that resolution through Voldemort or other Death Eaters exploiting Ron's weeknesses to get to Harry and to divide their friendship.

That thought has corssed my mind... however, my Ron hate biased mind doesn't want to believe that Ron is going to get such a spotlight.... I just hope he dies a horrible death and that no one cares... because, honestly, how useful is to have a chess player in your side of the war???

I agree.

As soon as JKR said that some people wouldn't like HBP I knew that it was going to be because of Ron.

Ron's always wanted to take the easy path, and his fear isn't likely to steer him in a different direction. I doubt he'll be in open rebellion...more like noncommittal standby. But that will be detrimental enough.

It will be interesting to see how much the bad guys use him, and how willing that use is.

That's exactly what I thought... because, indeed, when you think about it, in Ron's case, fear would be a very sleek way into the Dark Side.. so to speak.

I try to keep my hopes up about Ron in HBP... I really wish he's the reason why some people (a lot of people, JKR said) won't like the book...

He wouldn't even stand up to his brothers in OoTP. He's the kind of guy that wants to be universally liked. If he were to be standing in a room full of DE's he'd pop on a mask and hex the nearest muggle.

Ron has a weak personality. I don't understand where they come up with Ron "standing up for his beliefs". Where does it ever say what his beliefs are? We have no idea. He's never said. Never. Also, it's important to point out that Ron was the one who was all callow in the last book.

Remember Jo's quote about him being a bad prefect?

I don't know about you, but I think the next step for Ron will be choosing what he has now over what he could gain. Unfortunately I don't see him choosing the now. Candy from strangers is bad!
