Legoland Malaysia

One entry up before I head to Sydney. :)

I've been wanting to visit Legoland ever since it opened its doors in JB. Maybe this was why I subconsciously set (high) expectations for this place. I have my concerns of travelling to JB, so for convenience, I booked a tour package (on Groupon) with WTS Travel. It costs $59.90 (2-way Coach Transfer + Entrance Ticket). The timings are quite extensive and overall I think the price is reasonable.

We went on a Sunday (30 June 2013) and plan to depart Singapore at 9am, return at 7.15pm. Meeting point is at Singapore Flyer, entering JB via Tuas checkpoint. We reached Legoland a little past 10am.

Our tickets! :D

The awesome entrance (tired faces because this picture was taken when we were leaving).

Legoland Hotel still under construction.

Prior to the trip, I did some research. However, I can't find any useful information to help decide if I should bring my DSLR. In the end, I didn't. Turns out, for those rides which does not allow bags on board, they have this area for you to place your belongings. Not entirely safe (not locked) but looks safe enough. I depended on my iPhone throughout, though.

We walked the shops first; most items are overpriced (in my opinion).

One of the shops; the shops sell repetitive items

So cute, the trolley!

Personalized Lego brick keychains (about SGD10 each)

Lego calendar (about SGD25; re-usable so it's worth the money)

Truth be told, I am a little disappointed with Legoland. For one, it's not as fascinating and magnificent as USS (even), and most rides were for kids (not adult-friendly). I have to give credit though, for the idea of using Lego bricks for almost all mascots seen in the themepark.

Most rides were pretty kiddish but I took almost every ride that allows adults on it. The only ride we didn't take was the one which will get us totally drenched and we weren't prepared to get so drenched. The roller coasters are good for a low thrill factor. Their 4D movie ain't as good as USS's. They have some performances (like magic show) but I wasn't impressed.

This is one attraction I find pretty cool though. You've got to use your own strength to get yourself to the top!

Next, we settled our lunch at Pizza Mania. Each meal costs about SGD10 thereabout.

Serene say they adopted US style, i.e. get your tray ready, pick up your food and drinks, then pay at the cashier.

Lego Pizza Chef

Kids' meal (beef bolognese spaghetti) - Serene say it's really bad!

Seafood marinara spaghetti + Cauliflower soup - this is still edible but below average.

Spotted at the toilet - it's made up of Lego bricks!

Next we went to take a look at the Miniland exhibition. It consists of famous monuments and landmarks of 17 different countries, entirely made up of Lego bricks. This, is impressive. I took a truckload of pictures, I don't know which to post.

It can move!

So intricate :O

One can't tell but what's behind us are made of Lego bricks for sure, and yes the Singapore Flyer does rotate.

Scariest roller coaster in Legoland; Technic Twister:

I rode on this twice and although I was really scared the first time (also because my buckle wasn't tight), it's nothing compared to USS's red roller coaster (I didn't try the blue). The first photo that was taken was really epic so we decided to get it from the photobooth, at RM30. Serene and I kept laughing at it!

I was expecting a crowd; after all it's a Sunday during the school holidays. Amazingly, there were not many people in Legoland and the maximum waiting time is only 15 minutes. For the roller coasters, the waiting time was like 5 minutes or no waiting time at all, lol. We do have some time left to sit down and take a rest.

Einsten!

Dinner time~

Assam Laksa - pretty disgusting because I don't like tuna (tuna in laksa?!). We also had fries earlier from this same stall and the fries were cold! Hmpf!

Overall, it's nice to experience Legoland but I probably won't be going back. It's not that worth the hassle. USS, anytime.
