I talked to my mom last week and she told me when I get to be her age, 20 years won't seem so long anymore.
I stubbornly told her that 20 years is and will always be a long time. I don't doubt my perceptions of time will change when I get older. But I'm still a teenager and arguing is something I do.

The older you are, the less percentage of your life each year takes up. So there is something to what your mom is saying. When you are five, each of the five years you have lived through seem incredibly long, because each one is 1/5th of your life. But when you are 40, each year is 1/40th, etc. So it does seem like a lot less time the older you get.
