if you are speaking of historical spain, italy, or germany, yes. if you are trying to draw parallels between the united states government and fascism, you are way off base.
fascist is a very popular buzzword among leftist circles(I would know, I use it myself mockingly), but the only real fascists of today are just that. fascists. they don't go by any other name. you could take these "signs" and try to draw distinctions, but it wouldn't really make for a sound arguement. I could easily say, "well, stalinist russia was totalitarian, and our government is totalitarian, so that must mean bush is a stalinist!" which clearly isn't true.
i realize we're not that extreme, but it still scares me that there's all these similarities. i also realize that i know just about nothing concerning history. thanks AP classes....
whatever term this country decides to go by (or whatever it's labeled), its still really fucked up.
