MAJOR LIFE UPHEAVAL

Well, I have made a big decision to go back to work. For the past two years I’ve been at home, looking after my little boy who will be four in November. He has just started school, trying to come to grips with Junior Kindergarten, and making very good progress.

Lisa, who replaced me at work two years ago, found another job closer to her home and handed in her notice a week ago. My boss approached me immediately to come back full-time. The funny thing was Ed and I had been discussing the fact that for financial reasons it would be better if I was bringing in more money than I have been working only one day per week. So I said “Yes” to my boss and immediately had an anxiety attack.

I had to sort out a daycare provider for Sean quickly, because I start work next week, on September 25th. I found a lady on the next street over from us, who looks after another three-year-old and two two-year-old boys. All boys. Sean and I have gone over there to “play” and he has been very happy being with the other kids. So it should work out very well. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

My working hours will be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday as usual from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. I’ll have Wednesdays off.

This will severely cut into my free time and of course, I took on some projects just before I found out about Lisa’s decision to quit. I have just started a college course in Spanish language on Monday evenings, I have joined (and am a maintainer of) an LJ community started by Vana_Tuivana called reading_lesmiz. This came out of a conversation Vana and I had concerning the book “Les Misérables” which we both love and decided to start reading together. Anyone else who would like to join, please do. We’d be happy to have you! I have already purchased the Penguin paperback edition of the book and started reading it. At the same time, I am about to start playing in a new RPG and also begin another major online reading project, yet to be announced.

I have decided to write no more. Actually, I will probably keep working on short projects for challenges and birthday gifts, but my main writing focus will be on revising and improving old WIPs when I have the time. I will have Wednesdays and Sundays in which to do everything, so I should be able to make some slow progress. But I also need to do my Spanish homework and read Les Miz and the other books, and go over Sean’s homework with him. Yes, there is homework in Junior Kindergarten. I plan to go online in the evenings to check my e-mails and my LJ flist’s posts.

In other news, I got my Stade Français calendar and DVD. All I can say is “ay-yi-yi-yi - muy hermoso”, or maybe that should be “trés beau”. I will try to post something on a weekly basis in my LJ to stay active.

For now, adios, and take care!
