It's time to reminisce the good times in Bali! I had a really good holiday there last May with a bunch of noisy friends. You'll never be bored with them. Bali, bali, the land of sins!
My first aeroplane ride ever. I have to say it's not as scary as I thought it would be. It's actually quite boring! Haha
...yes, boring but therapeutic. We caught the sunrise in the plane!
I was so sleepy. I didn't sleep till the time I got on the plane. Oh, our flight was at 6am. I will save you from my bad pictures of me looking so tired and sleepy.
Alas, we got to our hotel. Cheap 2-star hotel but it's nice!
The rest went to have a rest in the hotel while Joyce, Kecik and I went to do some shopping. No, actually I go to Bali to do my part-time work there as a masseur.
So, Joyce got really excited looking at all the clothes and I got really excited looking at mannequins (although it's limbless and headless)
Just in case you're wondering, we were at Legian. A long stretch of shops, bars and clubs. It was where the Bali bombing took place. As you would have already noticed, the roads are really quite narrow.
Azahar's flight was delayed and the girls got cheated out of their money at a money changer. Me and Kecik waited at the airport for quite some time before we began shouting for Aza at the arrival hall like some lunatic fans. The girls got help from the hotel and got their money back. Thank goodness. So, at night, we went to this restaurant to taste some of the local food there. From here, Jeannine and Gigi had already started their Bintang beer regime. They would drink it at every meal! Madness! You'd be surprised how cheap the beer is. You'd be surprised how cheap EVERYTHING is!
So we thought why not go to clubs/pubs to chillax. While on our way, we saw this! Some sort of entertainment for its pub-goers. Really cool!
So, we stopped at this pub, thinking that they would be a reggae performance there. We waited, danced on our seats, and drank and then found out we are at the wrong place!
The place is this - Apache Club! It's all reggae! And the toilet was (holy cow) not good at all. Not at all!
Cheers!
Apache Club is like a place to commemorate the greatness of Bob Marley. Really interesting place. By the way, that local guy is high.
Next! We went to Engine Room! It's a really nice club. Very happening and the toilet is high-class and clean. Tip top condition. Oh did I forget to mention something? There's no entrance fees for clubs. So just drink away!
Chips!
Danced. I drank a lil bit too much for myself so... I'll keep the details to myself. First day was a long day.
SECOND DAY IN BALI
Second day! We hired a driver (Pak Made; pronounced as Mah-Day). See, all of us were eager to go sight-seeing!
The clouds are relatively low there compared to Singapore. I like!
When we reached the mountainous area, we felt heavenly. The air was really cooling despite the hot sun casting down its UV-rays on us. As you can see, the mountains are really huge!
Pose for the camera! I'm not sure where we are but it sure looked like some religious place.
Cooling air, clean waters. So nice lah!
Wee~
We had Nasi Goreng at a nearby restaurant. Gosh, there were so many flies around, so we moved outside instead. Nothing beats the cooling air. It's like the whole place there is air-conditioned at 21 degrees celcius. It's just nice!
Shortly after, Pak Made drove us to somewhere else. From where we alighted, we had to climb down a long trail down the mountain to see...
A waterfall! It is a rather small one but wow! A waterfall right before my eyes.
After climbing up the mountain to get back to our car, Pak Made brought us to this place called... I can't remember! It is where you can get to witness a beautiful sunset. Also there, you can get to see a famous temple where it can be hidden in the high tides.. or something like that. I'm not so sure. I couldn't be bothered with it because no one explained anything! Anyway, I ate the sun.
And then we headed to this place called... I can't remember again! This place is romantic! We had seafood for dinner by the beach! Look look, it's sand, isn't it? Plus, there was this live band that could play any song you request. It was such sweet romantic and peaceful dinner... till the rain came pouring down. When we moved indoors, the rain stopped! Sad!
DAY 3 IN BALI
Day 3, day 3. The arts day, or so we called it.
Yeah, artsy stuff.
From the artsy place, we were driven to yet another mountainous area! This time we were brought to a rather expensive restaurant. I didn't really enjoy my time there but while eating, you could savour on the scenery of the mountains. Nope, not wallpaper. Real scenery!
We went to a certain president's palace. Apparantly, it is rather holy place. When we were there, there were people doing their prayers. Hopefully we didn't disturb them. Oh, fun fact: The president's house is just above the mountain nearby this place. This was so that the president could peep on the ladies who took their baths here. Kinky president.
Right after that, we went to this coffee place where they showed us how coffee was made manually. It was kind of cool. There was this drink that was made of nuts that a certain consumes and shit out. Yeah, I drank that coffee. My mom freaked out when I told her that because she thinks it's dirty. Come on, newater's the same. Haha
After a cup of coffee (actually many cups heh), we went to catch a Balinese performance. It was said that sometimes its performers would get into trance. It was quite a freaky performance, complete with scary looking make up and costumes.
Pak Made brought us to a very local place where no tourists would go to. Some of us had their famous local delicacy called Babi Guling (suckling pig) while the some of us had some muslim food nearby. Heh, I will save you from the details of what these pig sucklers experienced! The muslim food people had fun making friends with the stall owners. By the way, 'halal' means 'edible' there. Which means, pig is also halal! Haha
Just before we head back to hotel, I requested if we could go to A&W. And we did! Yum!
Pictures for Day 4 to 6 will be up soon. Watch this space!
