Bermuda, Bahama, Barbados?

Who goes to Barbados for Christmas? My parents, it seems. My little brother and I are staying - I requested very kindly that they bring him or me with them, whichever they preferred, but they did not grant my request. Unfortunately, it seems that the very bouncy 3rd year called Seth will also be staying over winter hols ( Read more... )

Do you not get along with your brother?

I think I have something that you can do during the hols, but you can't know yet. It's a surprise.

We get along fine, but he is morally opposed, it seems, to me getting any work done at all during winter holidays. Or doing much of anything that doesn't entail, say, getting squirted with a water gun repeatedly.

Is that right? No hints?

Oh, he likes you. I have little cousins that do things like that and they only want attention. I think it's cute.

No hints. I has to be a surpirse. I'll give it to you early, before you leave of course.

Yeah, he is cute, and it was cute the first few times, though it wasn't as cute when he ruined my potions essay. He does so love attention - that much can be said.

Okay. I need to get yours to you before you leave, aslo.

If by Barbados you mean my grandmother's house, then I do.

If by Barbados you mean the nation in the Carribean, then I don't know. Possibly Kingsley.

You know, I don't think that's what I meant, but thanks for the effort, anyway.

Huh, hadn't considered that. Granted, it was sort of a rhetorical question meant to imply that my parents were completely mad.

Oh wow Diggory, my parents are going to the Caribbean for the holidays too! Only they're off to Aruba, lovely and not snowy at all Aruba.

It was the weirdest thing - they just sort of sent me an owl explaining that they'd only just realised that it was their lifelong dream to go to Barbados over Christmas holidays (which may have had something to do with the fact that it was supposed to be our year to host the huge family Christmas busines...hmm...) so off they are on the 15th for 3 weeks.

Same here, although without the huge Christmas party bit. Mum and Dad decided that England just wasn't cheery enough for them I suppose. Plus well...Christmas isn't the easiest time of year for us.

Ah, well, perhaps it's going around. Something in the water supply that gives parents a migratory urge to fly south for the winter and leave their children where they are. Really? How so?

Yeah, fortunately for me, I have Seth to help me be there in spirit by squirting me with some massive water gun every time I look like I might be too focused on something important. I don't even know where he got the bloody thing, but if he does it one more time, I may have to snap it in half. Yeah, I'm all about the traditional, white Christmas. I'm pretty traditional in many regards.

I love my brother, and everything... but I do not love his water gun. No, I do not love his watergun at all. I tried telling him that Santa would bring him coal... doesn't work any more once they're 13. I liked it better when he was gullible and I was meaner. Some tradition isn't, of course, but I do like traditions.

Barbados certainly is an interesting place to go for Christmas. My parents are being boring and going to visit family only about thirty minutes away.

I wouldn't know, of course, since they've decided to go without me and leave my little brother and his watergun here to keep me company in my Winter-holiday academic endeavors.

Oh. Watergun + little brother (in the winter) = not good. I feel your pain, though probably not as much.

Yeah - I think he's decided that it's his mission in life to make sure I don't do anything too productive. Or ever turn in my Potions essay, which he drenched when I was a little over halfway through with it.... Ink isn't as waterproof as you'd hope it would be. Draught charm got it readable, though.
