"I thought it was some old soccer ball!"

“Some old soccer ball? Just some old soccer ball?”

“Well, it certainly looks like one to me!”

“I’ll have you know, this is the ball Taichi-san used in his final game at Odaiba Elementary before he graduated.”

“So you stole it from the school’s store room.”

“I did no such thing! As a great fan of his, he left it in my care when he graduated. Yeah! That’s it!”

“Right. So believing you.”

“What! Why wouldn’t he do something like that?”

“You know what? I don’t care if that really is his ball, or how you got your hands on it. Heck, it could be naked photos of him rather than a ball for all I care. Just don’t leave it in the family room when it’s my turn to clean if you don’t want me to throw it out!”

“Na-wha- JUUUUUUUUN!”

“Na-wha- JUUUUUUUUN!”

Jun slowed to a halt in front of Taichi’s knees. He skip-hopped back a couple steps, jaw unhinged. By now he was used to her running him down on her scooter in pursuit of a certain blonde, but sometimes - he was sure - just because he was near her.

But something was different today.

“What is that?!” he exclaimed, staring at It: the latest edition to Jun’s collection of monsters.

A motorbike.

“Like it?” she said cheerfully. She’d brushed her hair in a bushy ponytail which only made the spectacle of her stranger.

“It’s… got flames.” He circled the sleek, red bike with its garish hot rod flames on the tank.

“My baby! I’ve named it Picante.”

“Picante,” Taichi rolled it over on his tongue. “Pica-chan. I always thought Daisuke would be the one lusting after a motorbike.”

Her lips curved in a dark, knowing grin. There was no more blood-chilling look in the world. He suppressed a shudder.

“My dear Taichi,” she sang. “Lust is exactly what it’s all about. A hot girl in a leather jacket, riding a motorbike with ( ... )
