What kind of weird system is this? Is this thing even--

[The camera blinks on to Miyako's face, and she squints for a moment. But once she realizes the camera's on, she perks up - if only for a second.]

Bingo! It's on, right? [Looks on. She smiles.] Uh... Hi! I'm Inoue Miyako, grade 6... Um...

...I'm not even in Japan, am I?

[She questions why ( Read more... )

[Grade 6? Concerned adult wants to make sure you're going to be okay.]

Nice to meet you, Inoue-san. I'm Takatori Mamoru, law school graduate. Truly, this isn't Japan. By all appearances, this world is a manifestation of a video game. How or why anyone has been brought here isn't something I know, but I'm confident that it wasn't this "Daisuke."

[She's the most responsible 12-year-old ever! She even has a job and everything.]

Nice to meet you too, Takatori-san! The... we're in a video game?! But... how?

As I said, I'm not sure how. I'm yet to be made aware of a voluntary way out, however. People do seem to leave eventually, but I don't think it's a matter of autonomy.

More importantly... how much do you know about camping and self-sufficiency?

So people come and go, and nobody knows how?

[Worried face grows.]

C-camping? I've... I went camping with my siblings a few years ago, but I didn't like it very much... W-why? Is there a lot of camping here?!

...That's correct.

[He hates to upset her further but it would benefit no one to lie.]

Unfortunately, it is a lifestyle here. You should have a sleeping bag in your pack. There are tents available for purchase in the next town. It's a three-day hike from where you are now. Look for fruit and nuts along the trail if you become hungry. Don't eat any mushrooms or berries.

[A pause.] Are you going to be all right? Someone can meet you at the halfway point.

A THREE-DAY HIKE?! [Horror.]

S-sleeping bag... and... D-don't eat the mushrooms... I... I think I can remember all of that...

[Face melting... And then she starts crying. This is too much.]

[Mamoru goes quiet, allowing her a few moments to cry with neither criticism nor coddling.]

Do you have any friends or family here, Inoue-san?

[It lasts for a few good minutes, but she tries to quiet herself down enough to answer his question.]

I--I have a f-friend... b-but I don't know where he i-is!

[And any friend is likely to be close to her age. Probably not that big of a help.]

He can only be in one direction from where you are now. Start walking towards Cherrygrove City. I'll meet you about halfway with some real food and escort you the rest of the way. We'll try to find your friend.

O-okay... Thank you, Ta-Takatori-san... [Sniff sniff.]

So just... go down the first trail, right? I'll start that...

[A solemn nod.]

Walk down the trail. If you have any questions or problems, I urge you to call back. [Beat.] Even if it's the middle of the night.

I'll see you in roughly 36 hours.

(OOC: Do you want to log this or handwave? I'm good with either.)

Okay... b-but are you sure? I mean... I'm not afraid of the dark, so I can stay outside and... Nothing wants to eat me out there, right?

[[ooc: I'd love to log it, but I'm asking Takeru's player first before I give a definite answer! In his intro post, Miyako ran into him and they're heading off together, so both of them would run into Mamoru. (Won't he have fun babyitting? :D)]]

[Mamoru banishes the somber look from his face and gives her a warm smile.]

I'm sure on every count. I'll make the trip. I want you to call if there are problems. There's nothing that wants to eat you. If any animal wants to fight, use your Pokémon. It's the strange creature you have with you. Everything in the walk between New Bark Town and Cherrygrove City is very weak. You won't have a problem with them if you keep an eye on your own Pokémon's health. There are potions in your backpack that will restore it if it seems weak.

(OOC: ROFL, ogod he will. No problem! I'm good with a three-person log or handwaving it or a handwaved callback to let him know she's ok and not to make the trip. Just let me know what you two decide on o/ )

Potions...? Goodness, this backpack has a lot in it! But at least this little thing will be okay if anything happens... [She smiles, somewhat relieved with that. After all, digimon don't get healing potions.] Takatori-sna, you're a lifesaver!

[[ooc: Takeru's all up for it! Let's log this sucker!]]

[Mamoru just holds the smile and nods in modest acknowledgment.]

Stay cheerful, Inoue-san. It isn't as bad as it seems.

(OOC: Awesome >D I'll get that up ASAP)
