New Function: The D-Reader

Yggdrasil has produced a new device to aid the Tamers.

The D-Reader. What is the D-Reader you ask? It's an accessory and companion device to the D-Comm. It is worn on one's arm, and has both a screen and a data entry pad, as well as a device called a Digi-Code Scanner on the side. A stylus for entering data on the pad is also included. It shares the D-Comm's colors and has its symbol on the side.

What does the D-Reader do?

It's functions are:

Personal database: The D-Reader can store much more data on itself than a D-Comm, and can also interface with the D-Comm's journal and map functions. It can also save private files, and also be customized with additional programs. Basically, this function makes it a small personal computer.

Digi-Code Scanner and Code Transfer: The Digi-Code scanner allows one to scan the data of a digimon or digimon weapons. If you scan something to 100 %, you can activate the Code Transfer function and send it to them. Code Transfer has two settings:

Digimon Natural Ability: This sends the data of a digimon whose 100 % scan you've managed to attain. This gives your partner the ability to use the digimon's attacks; however, they're scaled down to the partner's level. In short, if you scan an Ultimate digimon, and you Transfer it to a Rookie digimon, its attack will only be at a Rookie's level of strength.

Digimon Item: This allows you or your partner to use a weapon or other item used by a digimon and transfer it to either yourself or your partner. To do so, you select either Realize Tamer or Realize Digimon. This will cause that item to be sent to whichever individual is given it.

Now, these items can only be used when you have made a 100 % scan. Scanning something to 100 % isn't as easy as it sounds. You have to keep the scanner fixed on its target for a full minute. What's more, once you use a scan in code transfer, it will only last 30 minutes, and once it disappears, it's gone until you can get a new scan. It is possible, however, to make "stock" scans and save them for repeated use.

The D-Reader does provide Basic Realize Options, which includes one Digimon Natural Ability, and three Digimon Items. The Digimon Natural Ability is Protect, which provides your partner with a short lived energy shield (lasts 15 seconds), and the items are Rations, which provide you with food (two pieces of Bone Meat, in this case) and a small amount of water, Survival Gear (a tent, blankets, and a small inflatable raft), and First Aid, which is basic first aid equipment. These do not disappear with their initial use, and always remain in the D-Reader.

Another function is Item Storage.

Sometimes in the Digital World, a Tamer may gain actual items, such as a digimon's weapon or a Digimental. The D-Reader will then scan it, and break it apart into data, saving it permanently to the D-Reader. It can then be permanently accessed and used in Code Transfer. In the case of a Digimental, it can then be used to achieve Armor Evolution.

Item storage can also be used to store personal effects.

That's the D-Reader in a nutshell folks! A list of scannable items and weapons is coming soon.
