Writing as Jeremy VII

In the meadow we can build a snowman
And pretend that he is Parson Brown.
He'll say 'Are you married?', we'll say 'No, man,
but you can do the job when you're in town!'
- Winter Wonderland.

I was 22 before I realised this verse wasn't about casual sex. I imagined Parson Brown as an actor from the time, a Johnny Depp figure who was so desirable even the male character thought 'Hell, if he was in town I'd do him. I'd do him hard.' Apparently Parson Brown is just a parson? Who marries couples? I suppose the song made more sense after I figured that out, but it lost a lot of its appeal. Not the polygamous Christmas anthem it could have been, and still is, in my mind.
