if those people in the astrodome had been from metarie or other white, affluent areas, this would not have happened. it is disgusting and embarrassing and should not happen. i don't blame the people who couldn't afford to get out. but i do blame all levels of gov't for not helping them get out. and i'm a white girl who grew up lower, middle-class.
