2011 Scrapbook: books and movies.

.

the extremely late
2011 Scrapbook
because final exams. and laziness. and stuff.

So, at the beginning of 2011 I thought I should keep a scrapbook of the year, with notes of books I read and movies I watched and things like that. Turns out I don't read that much and I don't watch a lot of movies, plus I don't really remember all that much about what happened. But I did manage to keep a list, so now that it's finally winter vacation here I thought why not. Repeated viewings of things do not count in this list.

    ➥ books.
First Among Sequels (Jasper Fforde)

Favorite of the series so far! ♥

The Restaurant at the End of the Universe (Douglas Adams)

Includes answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything. No other explanation required.

Life, the Universe and Everything (Douglas Adams)

Insults, the sofa, and flying. But most importantly the sofa.

So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish (Douglas Adams)

Compared to the rest of the series, unmemorable.

Mostly Harmless (Douglas Adams)

Mostly harmless.

Wicked (Gregory Maguire)

Very interesting protagonist.

Dragonhaven (Robin McKinley)

Meh. It's okay.

Zima Blue (Alastair Reynolds)

Brilliant.

Reaper Man (Terry Pratchett)

I love Death (the character), okay. The background and the scythe and asdkljf everything.

House of Many Ways (Diana Wynne Jones)

Boring main characters are boring.

Night Watch (Terry Pratchett)

I...didn't like the random time travel. Other than that, awesome.

Divine Misfortune (A. Lee Martinez)

Yawn.

Castle in the Air (Diana Wynne Jones)

Starts out dull, but turns out to be really clever.

Soulless (Gail Carriger)

At one point I thought I was reading a romance novel with supernatural elements. Not my type of book.

Angelology (Danielle Trussoni)

Gets a little long. The back-story lecture gets annoying, but the action can be chillingly exciting.

Witches Abroad (Terry Pratchett)

Lots of heart for a not-so-simple fairy tale.

Men at Arms (Terry Pratchett)

Legit tears in my eyes, nnngh. Everything I look for in a story and more.

The Facebook Effect (David Kirkpatrick)

Unexpectedly exciting. ♠

Blonde Bombshell (Tom Holt)

Hilarious descriptions. Starts being predictable halfway through.

Guards! Guards! (Terry Pratchett)

Do I need to say anything else for this series.

The Fifth Elephant (Terry Pratchett)

See above. Like, seriously.

Conclusion? I wish I read more sci-fi than I did. I miss the genre, but there isn't a lot to choose from in the bookstores around here.

    ➥ movies.

Shutter Island
[2010]

Predictable.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
[2011]

Shut up, I'm a fan.

Tangled
[2010]

Cute.

The Social Network
[2010]

NO WORDS.

Zombieland
[2009]

Fun fun fun fun fun.

The Living Wake
[2007]

THIS MOVIE.

Sucker Punch
[2011]

Intriguing. Slightly lacking.

Tron: Legacy
[2010]

Headache-inducing.

Clue
[1985]

LOL.

Inception
[2010]

Pretty, but not much else.

Murder by Death
[1976]

Clever. Annoying.

Fight Club
[1999]

Such an angry movie.

Kung Fu Panda 2
[2011]

Enjoyed the plot.
Conclusion? Clue is awesome and has been added to my favorite movies ever list. The Social Network has an awesome fandom.

    ➥ fandom.
I don't even know. I've been hanging around everywhere but aside from casually staying on the sidelines of Johnnys fandom, I didn't do much else. I also felt more strongly than ever how the lack of proper English skills means I fail to express myself a lot. I honestly don't know what 2012 would bring, except. HOBBITS.

real life is a drag, inside a prisonic fairytale, real life can be fun too, strangely talkative at midnight, scrapbook, don't have a tag for this
