2011 Scrapbook
because final exams. and laziness. and stuff.

So, at the beginning of 2011 I thought I should keep a scrapbook of the year, with notes of books I read and movies I watched and things like that. Turns out I don't read that much and I don't watch a lot of movies, plus I don't really remember all that much about what happened. But I did manage to keep a list, so now that it's finally winter vacation here I thought why not. Repeated viewings of things do not count in this list.

Boring main characters are boring.

I...didn't like the random time travel. Other than that, awesome.

Divine Misfortune (A. Lee Martinez)





Yawn.

Castle in the Air (Diana Wynne Jones)





Starts out dull, but turns out to be really clever.

Soulless (Gail Carriger)





At one point I thought I was reading a romance novel with supernatural elements. Not my type of book.

Angelology (Danielle Trussoni)





Gets a little long. The back-story lecture gets annoying, but the action can be chillingly exciting.

Witches Abroad (Terry Pratchett)





Lots of heart for a not-so-simple fairy tale.

Men at Arms (Terry Pratchett)





Legit tears in my eyes, nnngh. Everything I look for in a story and more.

The Facebook Effect (David Kirkpatrick)





Unexpectedly exciting. ♠

Blonde Bombshell (Tom Holt)





Hilarious descriptions. Starts being predictable halfway through.

Guards! Guards! (Terry Pratchett)

See above. Like, seriously.

Conclusion? I wish I read more sci-fi than I did. I miss the genre, but there isn't a lot to choose from in the bookstores around here.

I don't even know. I've been hanging around everywhere but aside from casually staying on the sidelines of Johnnys fandom, I didn't do much else. I also felt more strongly than ever how the lack of proper English skills means I fail to express myself a lot. I honestly don't know what 2012 would bring, except. HOBBITS.
