His arms ache with phantom pain, burdened by a small weight his form remembers, that he never held. Reaching out blindly, he feels the glide of the crib's sheets under his hand.
How do they stand this knife to the heart? If human love feels like this why do they chase it with every fiber of their being? Bowing his head, Lucifer weeps.
