no no no.... anonymous January 29 2004, 11:56:00 UTC
You call that 'summing up'? Inigo Montoya would be ashamed of such a 'summing up' (unless, perhaps, you just said it all really really fast). Here, for everyone else reading this article, in only five words I'll reduce this overdue post down to it's most important elements:

"Andy is a (library?) whore"

There you have it... Now, while it is a somewhat novel approach to the job, applying the 'library concept' to the world's oldest profession, well, I see problems. I mean, there isn't likely to be much of a cash flow, now is there, if Andy just gives out cards that let people use his services for free... Which definitely explains why Andy seems so nervous about this new job, cause he kinda overlooked the whole 'revenue' thing. So, in that respect, I think that he chose the wrong phrase, as the one he used implies an exchange of funds. No, I think that we can come up with far more appropriate descriptions for our friend here.... any suggestions?

Oh my god, Hell must have frozen over!! Andy actually posted on livejournal! Wait, I have just been informed that indeed Hell HAS frozen over... apparently it was in the news. Some place in Missouri, I think called Hell Creek has frozen over. Ummm... this does not bode well.

Anyway... what was I talking about now?? Oh right. Andy actually posted. I must get mad now cos you failed to mention the fuzzy navels or the benwa balls in your summery.. I think they play a key roll as well.

I totally agree with the whole library thing... TOTALLY pissing me off as I am now down to 1 book left to read from the Library and I have a bunch of series I want to put on hold that I can't... I guess you can call me a library whore too then. Hee hee. Oh and so you know, the book that I have left to read is Kushiel's Dart.... hee hee.

Oh and I want to try Neverwinter nights too... do you think it would work on my laptop? If not I have to wait till Tim has the gaming pc up to par. =(

Mwahaha... all will read Kushiel's Dart!

I still have to get through the sequels, and I have no time to read, dammit.

Ok Ok, I will try and remember to send you a copy. I should warn you that it chugs pretty hard on Nicole's box, which is a 32 meg video card with 128 megs of ram, so you may find it somewhat slow, but hard to tell. I am really enjoying it, and I am only just finished the first of four chapters, so that is cool. Plus, if you start to play, then we can try and hook up an online game and actually game together, which would rock! And no kender, I mean it!!! Oh, and there are two expansions for when we are done the first *grin*.

Oh, and yes we can try on your system Lex, but no promises :(

I love "Memoirs" so far... I was a little scared about it at first because its huge and hard cover and I thought I might start reading it and then get bored 'cause its so long but that hasn't been the case so far. I'm about a 1/3 of the way through it, I'll let you know what I think when I'm done =)

Also, I've got a copy of "Under the Tuscan SUn" at home but I just can't seem to get past the first 15 pages or so of the first chapter... does it get better as I go? For some reason its not what I expected...

I think I started it once and couldn't get into it, or got it out of the library and never managed to start it, something like that! As to Under the Tuscan Sun, I really enjoyed it as it gave you a feeling for what living in tuscany is really like, especially nice in this miserable weather we are having! As well, I loved the descriptions of the house and everything they were doing with it, really appeals to my architectural/design side. It is at least partially a memoir, and by the end of both books I was actually more interested in her as a person than anything else, which is rare as she writes poetry which I hate =) Glad to hear you are enjoying Geisha, from what I have heard it is a very different but enjoyable book, can't wait to hear your final impressions.
