Well, I bought a brand-new DVD player from my father for 50 bucks (cheap!) and I have a free TV, as well. I'd put the size at about 26" (lonewolf73 measured it, but I forgot if that was it or not)

I have embarked on a mission to start buying the DVDs that are Necessary.

Thus far, I have:

Clue
Quills

I never got into The Dark Crystal. Just didn't appeal to me.

Nah...I'm not rabid about it. I probably won't buy any more DVDs until Xmas.

There are just too many other things on which I want to waste spend my money.

I haven't seen any 26" TVs on the market... they seem to come in odd sizes for some reason...

Well, now, that's what The Wolf told me. He whipped out the ol' Stanley tape measure himself.

Technically speaking, it was more like 26.5".

Truth in advertising, pshaw.

They call it 27 inches, even though it is only 26.4 or so. Maybe it is kinda like monitors, 17 inch, but only 15.7 viewable.
I don't know.

That's very likely. I bet the actual picture tube is 27 or even 28" but part of the edge gets covered up by the frame of the TV set.

Make sure that when you pick up Full Metal Jacket it is the remastered 2001 release, not the original 1999 release. The transfer is much better in the second one.

Here's a comparison of the two versions so you know what to look for.
