Last night we went to one of the metroparks (about 30 minutes drive from our house, actually) for a night of "old fashioned family fun". That's what the website said anyway. It was held at an outdoor education center, which is an old farmhouse sitting on 13 acres of woods, barns, and a stocked pond. It was really a good night.

Gas prices just went up to $3.19 gallon today! And we live in the very reasonably priced Midwest! It's too much--we can only afford to put in 4 gallons at these prices, which is just enough for commuting to work and back. I'm sure it's worse elsewhere.
Just disgusted by it. It went up 20 cents a gallon overnight!

Noah's big news came yesterday at the eye doctors: He needs glasses for reading and computer use. He's been complaining of eye strain and blurriness after reading lately. He reads books and uses the computer alot--he flies through books nowadays. So W took him in to the eye dr yesterday while I was working. Apparently he's a bit farsighted, which ( Read more... )

Today was crappy cold and rainy so we took the kids to the dollar theater to see  Firehouse Dog. I highly recommend it! From the tv commercials I figured it was a dumb, slapstick humor type kids movie, but decided we could stand to spend $5 on it. I was surprised: good plot twists/mystery, heartwarming scenes that weren't too schmaltzy, and my kids ( Read more... )
