GOF:What's wrong with this picture?

Sep 28, 2005 18:57

I know not everybody is, but I'm one of the people who are looking forward to the Goblet of Fire movie. It was my favorite Harry Potter book up until HBP came out (and HBP is more of a stand-in favorite for book 7, which is sure to be my favorite comes out). I think the trailer ROX. The music is awesome, the scenes are so cool. I'm looking foward ( Read more... )

You know... I'm not that worried about it. I'm all about R/Hr but sometimes people take it too far... acting all competitive. There's no reason to compete, because we all know who wins. Besides, these are just promo pics. There will be plenty of trio interaction in the film. Remember that Ron and Hermione are not yet an item anyway. If it were a bunch of H/Hr pics in anticipation for the HBP movie, it might be different.

I completely agree with you. Not just because I'm a Ron/Hermione shipper, but because for PS, CoS and PoA there have been R/Hr promotional shots released, and it seems nothing for this film.

However, I'm not worried yet. I've read some reviews by the audiences they've used to screen test GoF, and apparently the movie has quite a few R/Hr moments! Hopefully it will make up for the lack of pictures :)

I think its for many reasons and Harry being the main character is one of them so many pics will be of him. However, this book saw the fight between Harry and Ron so there will be lots of Harry and Hermione pics because they will spend a lot of film time together.

Another reason is that people do like Emma Watson and thinks she is a pretty girl and so they will get a lot of pics of her and to make up for all of her on-her-own pics they wll have some with Harry as well.

I'm not a fan of the fact that in PoA, her fight with Harry was not told, just hers and Ron's, that was disappointing. But I think they are really just flogging the 'only' female in the trio because it sells.

Personally, I think they are trying to trick those who haven't read the books (or are unable to read them properly) into thinking that Hermione is "hesitating" between Harry and Ron - that's also why there aren't many Harry/Cho pictures and clips released. But in the movie, I think it will be obvious that Harry has eyes only for Cho, and Ron and Hermione have something going on.

Also, you have to think of long term advertising. It just wouldn't do for Hollywood if everyone thinks "Okay, it's Ron and Hermione - but why don't they just kiss, damnit??" It works in the books, but onscreen, the clues have to be much more slow to come, or else it'll fall flat.

In this sense, HBP was absolutely terrible for the movies, because everyone knows how the relationships are going to end. In my opinion, they will have to be careful in dealing with Cho and Ginny in movie 5 - I expect we will see much more of Bonnie than even in the actual book.

Many of these points have already been made but I think they do it for all of the following reasons:

1) The Harry--centrism of the story, which you obviously know full well but just don't underestimate it; it's bound to be hugely magnified in a film that had to leave out so much.

2) The Pretty--That's why the Hermione/Krum, Ron/Fleur, Cedric/Cho, Fred/George, Ron/Padma (but not the Moody, obviously; he's there because of his plot importance and freakishness). And it's probably another reason for the Emma ( ... )

Now, where are those doggone Set Reports????

That's what I want to know. I know that they haven't forgotten about them. They were brought up on a TLC Podcast a few weeks ago, and apparently WB has still not given the go-ahead to release them.
