Oooh, Angelness sounds like *fun*. I've never written more than an Angeline ficlet or two, but I've got a novella planned for her and she's become my dumping ground for every half-decent random plot idea I can think of. My Angeline is very bad Christian, though - she's got a fetish for Hindu god/desses, and is pagan in every other aspect. But she is highly ... spiritually experienced, and religiously motivated. Angeline = religious.
(Also, a mad fetish for rosary sounds completely reasonable. It isn't even considered to be a mad fetish in a lot of places, and compulsive rosary recitation, well, that makes for some very interesting scenes (which are currently forming in my head; isn't it enough that I've had three major plot ideas today?). But is the rosary as big a thing in Catholic Ireland as it is in Italy, the Phillipines and such?)
Well, I have a whole pile of Angelness fics, and in most of them she's not very religious at all. In Freya she's very timid and meek, but that's not because she's a perfect Catholic wife or anything (though I'm not entirely sure why she'd be Catholic... why not Protestant? ARGH, don't know enough about Irish aristocracy.) One of my other Angelness fics (for the OpalAngeline fishwish, BTW) has her as this atheist criminal genius that Timmy 'tames'. Which I don't think I pulled off in the slightest. In any case, it's fun to play with Angeline, no? Colfer gave us virtually no past for her, and not a whole lot of character, but he gives us just enough to wonder... I mean, where did Artemis gets his brains from? I'm not entirely sure how much of the brains thing is passed on genetically, but for someone that smart he had to have gotten some from his parents, and it takes two to tango. Angeline, thus, cannot be the mindless housewife all fanfics make her. There has to be something *there*, something of Artemis. He has Timmy's eyes and hair
