Won first place at week 86 at
bssm_stills. The theme was fun, because when I make icons, I prefer to use color and duplicated layers more than textures and brushes.
to
1)First, resize/sharpen/crop 'n all that stuff. I centered my image on Sailor Uranus because I realized I had never made an icon of her before.
2)Duplicate your layer. I set mine to multiply, 100%.
3)Make a new raster layer and fill it with #050111 and set it to exclusion 100%.
4)Another new raster layer, this time it's #d1c9eb set to burn, 100%
5)Again, new layer, #edd2ee to soft light 100%. Yes, I know all the layers are getting boring.
6)Merge all. I though her eyes needed some attention, so I used the freehand tool to select them and her tiara jewel, then went Adjust->Hue and Saturation->Colorize and chose a nice blue color.
7)New raster layer, then I used #e98ddd on soft light, 100%.
8)I again used the lasso to go around her eyes and jewel on the pink-colored layer and colorized them back to a nice bright blue.
9)Merged, added a border. No text, 'cause this was for a challenge that required no text, brushes, textures, patterns, or anything else of the sort.
