Tutorial 03 - Eternal Mars (layer effects)

Making an icon for mahougirlstills HUSH theme, I got discovered that the icon I made had about fifty billion different possibilities. Or at least 6 different icons, all made in PSP9 but they should be translatable.

1) Take yer base 'n do stuff (crop and whatnot). I started with a manga image of Eternal Sailor Mars (my favorite Soldier).

2) Duplicate your base and set it to soft light, 100%.

3) New raster layer, fill it with #ecc786 set it to burn, 34%.

4) Now the difference. Make a new raster layer and fill it with #efc5ec Set it to

A) Saturation, 52% and add a border with the BURN brush (100% opacity) for this icon:

B) Saturation, 100% and add a border with the BURN brush (100% opacity) for this icon:

Or make these:

Follow the above tutorial to step #3. But instead of setting #ecc786 to burn, go ahead and
A) set #ecc786 to Hue, 100%.

B) set #ecc786 to Hue (Legacy) 100%.

C) set #ecc786 to Color (Legacy), 100% (I didn't' think that setting it to just Color gave it a nice look).

D) set #ecc786 to Multiply, 100% for a sorta exclusion-y layer look (I tried a dark blue exclusion layer, but it made her skin look too yellow).

Then for all the above icons I added a 1-pixel border with the BURN brush, 100% opacity.
