It's cool to hear you voicing that ambition. Do you feel the director knows you support his change-is-good ideas and wish to implement some yourself?

Hard to say. Before this morning I wouldn't even have suspected him of CONCEIVING the change-is-good theme. I certainly haven't talked in his presence about specific areas for improvement, but I'm agreeable and don't need any convincing when he describes things that would work better if done differently.

I don't think this fellah would agree that the library needs to accept food'n'drink (or even a house cafe! just think of all that empty space upstairs that could be used!), or retrain staff with a focus on customer service, or increase volunteer hours accepted so that professionals can focus more of their effort on reader advisory services. I might possibly be able to push through the idea that the new books should be tagged as such in the computer system so that patrons know where to look. I imagine he's totally convinced that the reference librarian SHOULD be reprimanded for taking twice as much break time as she's supposed to, but I also imagine changing that ain't worth the fight for him.

Oop, gotta go. =)
