Did something happen to Daisy? If so, I am so sorry, but I hope I'm wrong.

Nooooo! I've grieved for a lot of cats and a dog. I still mourn the loss of them. Seeing it put this way felt very healing.

I should have clarified I was speaking generally. Sorry!

I like the quote. I've never had to make that decision for the two pets I've had in my life, but it still resonates with me.

This is more or less what I told Zen both times when we had to take his cats to be put to sleep. His older cat had shown up on his doorstep pregnant, he took care of her, found homes for all of her kittens but one that he kept, and she was a fat and happy indoor cat for the rest of her life with a comfortable home and love and attention and food and a happy life. It's horrible and painful to let them go, but at least knowing that they were safe and happy and cared for helps a bit (at least later - I don't think anything really helps in the moment)
