Blinkensopps asked for chicken and dumplings for dinner tomorrow night. So I did a search for recipes. I have my own recipe but was looking for something different. Oh boy, is this one different. I'm not sure which is the biggest turn off, the pictures, the instruction to use that quantity of "cheap biscuits" or the entire concept. My suggestion ( Read more... )

To be fair, there are some kinds of dumplings (New England style, IIRC) that are almost the same as boiled biscuits. The ones that puzzle me are the ones that are like 4-inch square noodles. Why not just add nooodles?

The ones I make are light, fluffy and cloudlike, and do not sink to the bottom. Even when I make the chewier Hungarian galushki they don't sink to the bottom. Those were some revolting pics. Thanks fer sharin'!

How about chicken paprikash with home-made galushki (Hungarian giant spaetzle)?

Or chicken schnitzel with lemon-chive dumplings?

I grew up with and still make light and fluffy dumplings. Even spaetzle shouldn't look like something that gets caught in your colon for a decade.

Omph, oh the pictures were horrid. That's supposed to make me want to do this recipe if the food looks like that. Blech.
