Driving a manual

I drove a manual car for the first time today. One of my friends had a few to many drinks to drive home so I drove his car. Stalled it about 10 times, missed 1 red light because the car wouldn't move and went through a couple of yellows. Good for the first try???

My brother tried to teach me how to drive his manual truck a few years ago (my only experience with a manual car), and it went just about as you describe.
