Big ranting I'll probably be verbalizing in a few days.

Today was a fine day.
I went to school. I had geography, biology, math and history classes today.
Then I went to technical college and had Database Management and System Development there.
The problem is with the last sentence.

In the middle of Database class, the principal came in and asked us about college.
He was saying that our college, now only technical, would open superior courses. And they wanted our opinion about the test.
Until some months ago, we used to have two tests to enter college. One had all of the school subjects, were multiple choice questions and it was mainly based on massive content. The other was dissertative and concerned only the subjects that would matter for the course you've inscribed to do.
Four years ago, the government created an outrageous law that reserved a quota of vacancies for students who spent their whole life studying at public schools and a racial quota. There's a 10% raise on their grades. 13% if more than one expectation is met. (i.e. if a black student studied his/her entire life at a public school)

All right. There's a quota for these students.
And what about those students who spent their whole lives studying their asses off at private schools and, most of all, are white? What about those students whose parents have spent over $35,000 with their education?
They are going to stay behind, of course.
I stood at 10th place when I had the test to enter the technical college, because all of the students above me were public school students and earned points/vacancies. My cousin didn't even get a vacancy because of this.
So what now, we just get screwed because we invested on our education?

My opinion is that the government should teach the public schools how to get the fish instead of giving it to them. Their investment at schools should be higher.
Not that this is easier, but easier is totally different from better.
Everyone pays taxes. FUCKIN' LOTS OF TAXES.
The income tax is a steal.
A Brazillian salaryman works his ass off during 3 months and a half to cover his taxes.
Not forgetting the royalties taxes they charge over oil extraction and such.
Now...
WHERE THE FUCK DOES THOSE POLITICIANS STICK ALL OF THIS MONEY?
Shouldn't they be investing this money in better conditions for people?
Starting with the bloody education?
PEOPLE REACH THE SEVENTH GRADE WITHOUT KNOWING HOW TO READ AND WRITE.
And I, who am white, have a reasonable income and studied my entire life at private schools, not counting with all of the courses I've made, will lose my vacancy for a guy who doesn't know how to write his own name.
Remember those $35,000 I've mentioned above?
I've calculated it for all of the years of study since kindergarden to high school, material, books and a 3-year English course. A calculus for average private school students.
But, in my case, an individual case, of course my father has spent more than these $35,000. I had 10 years of English course, besides some courses out there to improve my curriculum.

And I may as well lose my vacancy to a ballscratcher who doesn't know how to write his own name.
It's just not fair.
I know that they're poor and that they lack the conditions to pay $250 every month for their children to study at private schools. It's not their fault.
It's the government's fault, who doesn't do what our parents do, that is, to invest on children's education.
Those deputies, senators, governers... They don't give a shit to us.
They prefer to steal public money and spend it with travels, hot nights, telephone, massage chairs... not with the people's future.
Instead, they just approve an absurd law like this one and just let it be, while they purchase expensive cars and live life to the fullest.
In the meanwhile, there's someone dying from starvation, and many incompetent professionals are being formed. Or not. The quality of universities here are so high, while the public schools' quality is so low, that most of public school students can't take the classes and leave college. Another problem, see?
About black people... There isn't much to say about it. Just that, now, racism is official here. By giving a black student a higher grade for him to get into the college, they're meaning that a black student is less worthy than a white one, that the black one isn't capable of taking a higher grade than the white one.
Another cousin of mine, taken at an orphanage long time ago, is black. She has much more conditions than I have to get in a good college. She has even gone to Australia to have exchange classes, while I wouldn't be able to afford for it. And she is going to take 10% more than she would take, because she is black. Even she doesn't like it.

All of this is so absurd that students tend to lie when they have a socioeconomic questionnaire to fill in. I've even considered lying. The questions are outrageous.
They ask you how many rooms you have at your house. How many PCs you have got. If you own a car. How much your income is. How many brothers/sisters you have that live with you. The "race" you self-declare.

Now, guys, tell me... Is this really fair?
Should someone really lose his/her vacancy for a guy who doesn't know how to spell his own name?
Tell me. It's the only thing I ask of you.

college, school, ranting, fuck
