Proud of my chocolate girl for weathering the high stress environment of the Thanksgiving Cluster in MA and even getting her OA on this (very suspenseful) run.

She took 13 seconds to tease me about whether or not to finish doing the teeter. THIRTEEN SECONDS!!!! with a total twinkle in her eye... probably still pissed I made her down on the table ( Read more... )

Ha! I think the Teeter break is cute. What can you do? To me, the REAL suspense is in running a course with PILLARS in it. I get nervous every time I see these sorts of venues. I know, I know, done successfully throughout the world. But they just floor me. I'd be so worried I'd run into a cement pillar, I'd probably do EXACTLY that.

There was one TERRIBLE novice course that had a pillar right after a jump just about In the path turning to another jump that when the dogs turned tight--everyone was gasping to themselves as the dogs almost jumped into it. Crazy. They could have just adjusted the jumps a couple feet

And yeah, why aren't the pillars padded??????

someone on FB wondered why that pause on her teeter would not have been called a refusal...

Once the dog is fully on/in an obstacle there are no refusals. Just wasting time. (I used to be an AKC agility judge.)

So it wasn't OAJ - jumpers doesn't have all that contact equipment. Maybe OA? That reminds me of Jill when she is considering the teeter or not - because she usually jumps off the side or turns around and goes back, I don't compete anymore. No teeter, no $ lost over and over again for me. I'm with Rosie, I also worry about the pillars...

All those seconds lost on the teeter and she was still under time. Stella loves akc... no down on the table required, dogs have to be leashed right after the run, and none of those backsides (which actually she doesn't mind) and fancy turns
