Tutorial #4 > Stella Bonasera

Jul 29, 2007 18:04

Made with Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0.
Level: Medium (because I'm not sure if it's translatable)

As requested from
shizukuchan.

1. Crop your image. Duplicate your base twice. Set the first one to Screen 50 %.
For the second duplicate go to Filter -> Blur -> Gaussian Blur 2,5. Drag it to top and set it then to Soft Light 100 %.

2. Add this texture
, flip this layer horizontal

>
(it says: flip layer horizontal / flip layer vertical)
Erase the texture where it covers Stella and set it then to Lighten 100 %.

3. Add this texture
and erase it again where it covers Stella. Set it to Screen 100 %.

4. Duplicate your base. Set it on top and desaturate it (CTRL+Shift+U) and set it to Lighten 50 %.

5 Add a new layer. Fill it with #000033 and set it to Exclusion 75 %.

6. Duplicate the saturated layer, change the size and position of it, so that this new layer is next to the head of Stella.
Set it  to Lighten 50 %.

.

Instead of adding the shadow you can also just add some text in your icon
. I added here some text with the font "violation". Then I duplicated the text layer, set the duplicated one to Soft Light 100 % and changed the position a little bit.

You can also add both effects on your icon.

And that's it. We're done..... very simple. ^_^

*ahem* This one won 3rd place in Challenge 1 @
stella_stills.

Tell me what you think about it. And I would love to see what you're come up with.
