NKJV? NIV? NASB? Jerusalem Bible?

Lately I've been noticing how different the various bible translations can be. Sometimes you'll get a completely different idea of a verse if you read it from an NASB bible than you will if you read it from a KJV. So, here's my question:

What is YOUR favorite bible translation?

[bounces up and down] I get too excited over this. For me, it depends on what I'm reading. I love The Message for just plan Bible-reading; it's great for the gospels, I Corinthians 13, and Ephesians 5. Other parts, too, but those two chapters I love. In general, though, I stick with NIV. NLT doesn't make me happy for some reason, and NKJV is just annoying. Mostly it depends on whether it's a word-for-word or thought-for-thought translation, but then I can never remember which is which, just that KJV is word and NIV and The Message are thought.

Okay, the comment was longer than the post... [slinks back into pastor's kid hole]
