Kings Stuff

After yesterday I was prepared to write a rant on how Dean Lombardi is a pathetic GM for missing out on everyone the Kings were after this offseason and how I thought he should be fired immediately, but today Lombardi began the redemption process by going out and signing four players. I really like the addition of Preissing, he will bolster the ( Read more... )

I couldn't agree with you less on so many levels.

Stuart... WAY overrated, and would not be a good fit.

Raycroft... not even CLOSE to being another Cloutier, but he's not the guy they need anyway.

Calder... huge upside. MUCH more so than Nagy.

Garon... feh

LaBarbera will never be "ready" to carry the load, because he's a marginal NHL goaltender that will always put up numbers at the AHL level, but isn't really that well conditioned, or quick enough to succeed in the NHL over a long period of time.

Comrie... oh lord, please no... and Armstrong is no longer even CLOSE to being their second line center. He'll be a third and fourth line plug in.

I'll take his 2005-06 season as upside and go from there. Last year just sucked for him and the Flyers. He had a slightly better situation in Detroit, but yes, disappeared in the playoffs. He won't have to worry about disappearing this coming season. He can schedule tee time for the second week in April.

From the land of one dimension, Souray has a shot from the point and that's about it. He's not Modry at all, other than his ability to become a whipping boy for not living up to expectations. Kings fans see stats and assume the guy will be a "five tool player" --- He won't be. He will excel in San Jose if Thornton and Cheechoo are in front of the net banging home his rebounds. He will fail in LA because the team is not strong enough around him. Who goes to the front of the net? No one as far as I can tell.
