No doubt someone is already doing a study of this, but do you suppose that our search enging culture is having an effect on our use of prepositions.  Are we dropping non-search worthy words from our sentences here and there or learning to go without in order to fit our ideas into a tweet?  And as Adam Z countered, are we enforcing simpler

Possibly. I know that Christy and I have fallen into the habit of 'verbing' everything. It is worthy of attention and certainly worthy of study from an academic standpoint. Is it a degradation of the language or a natural extension of our desire to communicate faster? Will we forego thoroughness for speed in all situations?
