As someone who flat could not get insurance in the States, I would say option A. I'd be terrified to have a newborn and not have insurance. Besides, it's good for little'uns to have a parental unit around.

One thing that might help is to add up things like childcare and commuting expenses and subtract that from your salary when you are making comparisons to make them more realistic.

Oh sweetie. I am sorry that you have such a difficult decision ahead of you. I don't know which one to tell you to choose but I will support whichever decision you make in whatever way I can. I do lean towards the option where you get to keep your insurance though.

If you keep working it's only till Feb. When you relocate you'll have to get a new job anyway? How long would that take? (Months?) Insurance out of pocket would cost you at least $300 a month (even on Cobra) and possibly much more. I'd go with the prize behind door #1 and take the long term disability. You can't beat $28 a month! Once you move you might be able to find a new job that works around your disabilities and the baby in which case you can give up the long term disability or not - I think option A gives you greater flexibility.

I would go with option A, it sucks to lose your vacation, but you will still be eligible for re-hire, yes? I don't know how AT&T works there, but here you have a year in which to be rehired at your current pay and NCS date...
