You know, I could get on board with that, if it wasn't for that whole "47 feet of white crap in the winter" thing. If I ever moved to the UP, I'd HAVE to become a snowbird!
You know, it's really not so much the shoveling. It's that it never gets warm enough to MELT the stuff, all winter long! I visited Interlochen in January last year and nearly lost my 100 pound lab in the snow drifts (he loved every minute of it, the goof.) Give me a nice, 54 degree Florida winter any day!
I was in Iron River. A buddy has a family cabin up there and we were closing it down for the winter. I love the area. The colors were starting to change but it's hard for me to know since I'm color blind. There were definitely some differences though.
Next spring I plan on camping along Lake Superior; starting at Sault Ste. Marie and working west to Copper Harbor.
