"Jinki! You'll be late for school!" Lee Jinki's mother called from down the stairs.
The highschooler groaned, pushing the covers away from his face. Getting ready was always hard for him to do but once he was out into the fresh air well, then Jinki was a new person. But for the time being, Jinki was still sleepy as he dragged himself out of bed. His poofy eyes searched the clock, 20 minutes until he had to leave. He sprang up and ran into the shower. After a quick shower, he raced down the stairs to nibble on some breakfast.
"Honey, I don't know why you get up so late. You might actually be able to digest your food if you got up early."
He listened to his mother's motherly concern daily, gnawing on his rice rather quickly.
"You could enter an eating contest..." She muttered, watching her son scarf the food into his mouth.
"Ha ha maybe he's practicing." His father came into the room, fixing his tie.
"Hi dad!" Jinki shouted with food in his mouth.
His mother sighed, shaking her head. "I think he takes after you."
She said after her husband sipped his coffee before grabbing his briefcase and heading towards the door. She gave him a quick peck on the cheek, wished him a good day and let him go out the door. Dishes clashing in the sink disrupted his attention as Jinki raced passed her.
"Good bye mom!"
"Good bye Jinki!" She called out as loud as she could, knowing her son was probably a mile down the street.
If it hadn't been a routine, Jinki's stomach would've been turning in circles as he ran to school. His friends had already left their meeting area so the teenager bolted faster to see them.
He stepped passed the gate but a teacher smacked him on the head with a book.
"You were almost late again Lee Jinki." He scowled.
"Sorry sir, my mom-..."
"I don't need to hear your excuses. Get to class."
"Yes sir."
Jinki quickened his pace from the front gate, leaving the scolding teacher behind. It wasn't like he meant to be late.
He bowed to his upperclassmen, passing so many he knew in the hallway. He had his back to the open classroom door as he bowed to an older male passing by. An arm around his chest suddenly pulled him backwards and into a chair.
"I swear Jinki, it's any wonder why I still wait for you." Jonghyun sighed, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Sorry, my dad-..."
"I don't need to hear your excuses. Go to your seat."
Jinki huffed, he wondered if Jonghyun was related to Mr. Scowl as he went to sit down.
Jinki smiled, looking up to the sky. Today had been such a great day. Beside the fact that his friend Jonghyun had almost gotten him into detention, it was a great day. The tall boy reached into the air, stretching his limbs as someone bolted out from the alleyway and knocked them both over.
The 19 year old blinked seeing nothing but darkness. Oh my god I've gone blind!
"Aiish..."
Jinki lifted his head to see a figure underneath him. He sighed in relief and smiled, he hadn't gone blind after all.
"Hey, are you going to get off of me or what?"
The tall boy's eyes met with the stranger's. Jinki was pretty sure this person looked female but when it spoke again, he was pretty sure it was a male voice.
"Hello?" It waved it's hand in front of his face. "Anyone home?"
"I'm sorry!" Jinki jumped to his feet, offering a hand out.
The small stranger glanced at his hand before taking it and standing.
"Hey there he is! He's got someone with him!" Came a shout from the end of the alley.
"Shit, they caught up."
"Oh no! You dropped your things!"
Jinki bent over to pick up the fallen items. He handed them to the short victim who suddenly looked to be in a hurry.
"You guys get the big one. I'll get the brat!"
"Here... I think that's everything." Jinki sighed as he handed the last item to the stranger. "Um... Hello?"
The stranger suddenly grabbed his hand and started to run.
"Don't let him escape!" Called out an older voice from behind them.
Jinki struggled to keep up with the smaller person as he tried not to trip over his own feet. They ran through countless alleyways and streets. The highschool student was soon running out of breath as he tripped himself and sent the stranger and himself flying.
"Aiish why are you such a klutz?!"
Jinki got off his hands and knees and looked into the direction they had ran from. "I'm sorry I just-..." He turned around to see an empty alleyway.
"Where'd they go?!" The older voice shouted.
Jinki gasped and his hand was seized again as he was pulled backwards into a tight crack between the buildings. A tough looking group of adults ran passed them. Five or six Jinki counted, some with baseball bats. Neither of them moved until the voices were quiet off in the distance. The stranger pushed Jinki out from the tight space, dusting itself off.
"Why were those guys chasing you?"
The stranger arched a brow. "None of your business."
Jinki looked around the alleyway. He hadn't paid attention when they were running to see exactly where he was. The short unknown person sighed.
"I bet you have no idea where you are."
The 19 year old turned, his face perfectly readable.
"Pabo...I'll take you back."
Jinki bowed. "Thank you!"
"Yeah whatever, come on."
The highschool student sighed in relief as they entered the street they had first ran from.
"Can you find your way home from here pabo?"
Jinki frowned. "I'm not a pabo. And my name is Jinki. Lee Jinki."
The stranger shook it's head. "Like I care."
He left Jinki in the street, disappeared down one of the alleyways. He turned on his heel, heading back into the direction of home. He kicked a large stone as it skipped forward. Was it still a great day?
