As a Central Pennsylvanian, I have a pesky habit of dropping "to be" from my sentences. A popular example of this is, instead of saying "The car needs to be washed" I would say, "The car needs washed ( Read more... )

I dodn't know there was anything wrong with "the car needs washed". It seems to be a Scottish idiom as well as a Pennsylvanian one. Just as well I don't have to worry about word counts any more.

I see nothing wrong with it either. It communicates the idea, but with fewer words. If nothing else, we are quick, efficient people.

i was in state college for four days over thanksgiving. oh, the diner! oh, the goodwill! oh, the stars at night! oh, the crisp crackly fall air (for like 30 seconds, then it got warm again!) so good in small doses.
