Title: As Long As I'm Here With You
Pairing: Jongyu
Rating: PG
Words: 765
Summary: A short drabble inspired by this

Sometimes Jonghyun thought it was all a dream. He thought he would wake up to the smell of rice and kimchi and the sound of his mother telling him to get ready for school. There was no way he was an idol. There was no was he lived in a dorm with four other amazing artists. There was no way he had traveled all around the world. There was just no way any of it was true.

He shared this with his other members once. Key laughed and told him he was being paranoid. Minho made fun of him for thinking such childish things. Taemin rolled his eyes and ignored him all together. But Jinki was different.

Jinki looked at him with this completely understanding and empathetic look that made Jonghyun know he felt the same exact way. The two of them realized that even though they acted the youngest, their age had given them experience and hesitance that the younger members hadn’t gotten since they started training at such early ages.

From then on, Jonghyun went to his hyung whenever he was uncertain about his career choice or whenever he felt like his life was too good to be true. The two would separate themselves from the others, grab a few beers (if they were in private) and shoot the shit until the sun rose and their eyes were crusted with tears.

Jonghyun was feeling particularly overwhelmed and emotional during their current comeback as they were promoting a song that he wrote himself. It was extremely stressful waiting to see what people would think about what he wrote but equally rewarding when the fans went crazy over it.

It had been after an award show when he talked to Jinki about it, telling him how happy and proud he was of himself and of his band mates for growing as much as they have. He couldn’t keep the smile off of his face as he told the other singer the comments he had read from fans about the song. There were barely any bad comments and that made Jonghyun happier than he liked to admit.

But as happy as he was, he was also worried that this would be the peak, that, in a few years, SHINee would become old news and nothing new and exciting would ever come from then. This scared him more than anything. He always thought about it during their comebacks but this was probably the worst time that he had thought about it.

He laid his head on the older boys shoulder as he talked and felt tears creeping out of the corners of his eyes but he pushed them back because they were in public and he already had a reputation as a crybaby he didn’t need to make it worse.

Jinki put his arm around his shoulder and told him what he needed to hear.

“Your passion and love for what you do will prevent anything bad from ever happening to this band. We may all be talented and intelligent, but you are our strength. Your artistry is what makes us unique and unless you lose that, SHINee will never, ever fail.”

“But what if I do? What if I wake up one morning and everything is gone? What if I can’t think and I can’t sing and I can’t do anything and because of me SHINee does fail, or worse I’m kicked out? I can’t stand thinking about it.” Jonghyun put his hand to his head.

“That won’t happen.” Jonghyun looked up and opened his mouth to protest but was swiftly cut off. “Before you say anything, just think about singing and music and how they make you feel and tell me if you really think that will go away.”

Jonghyun thought but remained silent.

“There’s your answer right there. You are too in love with performing to ever let that passion die. It will live on in you forever and you will always be able to make amazing music for, not just SHINee, but everyone who needs and craves music in their lives. You have nothing to worry about.”

Jonghyun looked up at his hyung, his eyes were watery but there was a large smile spreading across his face.

“Thanks hyung.”

Just then the door across from them opened. It was Minho.

“There you guys are. We’re on in 5. Are you ready?”

The two looked at each other and Jonghyun nodded a smile still on his face. As long as he had Jinki by his side, he knew he had nothing to worry about.

A/N: so I've been feeling a lot like this lately and let me tell you it is some scary ass shit not knowing if what you are doing will last especially when it comes to the arts and I can totally see Jonghyun being scared about it too but he really is so fucking passionate and such an amazing artist that there is no way he would ever lose it lol. Anyway please comment and tell me what you think^^
