A year ago, I scribbled a rhyme on a scrap of paper. I've hung on to it, but I can't remember who the author was.
elfinecstasy perhaps?
Do not try to tame the heart, but listen to its song,
and it will lead you to the place where you most belong.
Feng Shui.
Ion't know much about feng shui, but I'm sure I've identified several "problems" with the furniture placement in my apartment.
Biggest thing: my living room. I couldn't afford to replace my couch, so it was just an armchair directly in front of the tv, with a small bookshelf to the side. At least there was room to drag a few straight-back chairs in when I had guests. Now that I have a desk and set of shelves, there is less space.
It feels as if the living room is just the narrow strip of carpet between the tv and chair. (And since I don't have cable, I don't even watch tv.)
I desperately needed a working area (and internet access). So I found the cheapest desk and set of shelves that I could. Too cramped in my bedroom and I don't like a desk to face the wall. The desk feels good in the living room, facing into the room at an angle, but I'd really like to have a *living* room that I could socialize in.
If I got another armchair, I could squeeze it in, but it would look pretty weird and one chair would be looking at the desk instead of the other chair or the tv.
When i moved in, a friend gave me a dining table and four chairs. The set is attractive and the chairs are very comfortable. But, I'm willing to bet that black metal and round glass are not good feng shui in the "creativity" area of the home. And it just looks odd with all my mom's Ethan Allen furniture.
The bathroom is in the "love and relationship area." (Recently, the cats have demanded that I take the lid off the litterbox.)
Finally, the bed is on the southwestern wall of my bedroom.
There are all sorts of Feng Shui tools to counteract the effects of poor furniture placement: bells, mirrors, crystals, bamboo flutes. I just don't know which ones to use.
Yesterday, I splurged on a few pieces of china. I put them on the dining table so the house would feel more welcoming to guests.
Waiting for a call from
faeriepriestess. She's going to let me know what
elfinecstasy's mom learned at her doctor's appointment today.
Will sit here practicing my Reiki II symbols because I don't have the motivation to do any of the important paperwork I have or to take a hike, even though it cheers me up and is good form me physically.
