His Heart is Just Too Big

Those of you who have had the pleasure or profound amusement to meet my big black cat Ed, know why we call him special. He is perhaps one of the sweetest, most loving, and overly-affectionate empathic cats I’ve ever met, who loves to enunciate when he’s talking to you (or at you), as much as he loves to eat. He brings joy to everyone he meets. He ( Read more... )

thanks, doll. I just got a call that the sonos are complete; the vet had an emergency though (not Ed) and will be calling a bit later than expected...*pins & needles* If you are wondering what those little things flying around my head are, it's the moths from within the pocketbook.

I know the feeling, on both counts. Rupert's lost some weight and Willow's gained some, and I suspect thyroid - hyper and hypo. And until we get caught up, the vet is not really an option. Of course, we get near emergency, it gets taken care of and something else gets bumped.

Keep me posted on Ed, yes?

I feel you there. If I was not working, the vet wouldn't have been an option for me either. So far this year he's been back and forth to the vet about 6 times, at $170-500 a pop. I won't even tell you what this is costing...I just feel lucky that I had already budgeted in the sono treatments - just those alone were going to run $477, not including a day at the vet and the office visit.

The trouble with animals is they go down hill so fast. He was fine when I left him at 11am yesterday...and by 6pm, was needing oxygen to breathe.

We've known for some time *something* was up...its just no one has been able to pinpoint the problem. I'm hoping between the three veternary people trying to figure him out, they'll get it right this time.

I think the heartbreaking thing about it is even when he's in terrible pain, you pick him up and he purrs. It breaks your heart, I tell you.

Indeed. If the cat carrier had been in sight, I believe he would have tried laying on that, instead. Poor guy.

Poor Ed. :( I'm thinking happy thoughts for both of you.
