thoughts for a Monday morning

I have decided that my life philosophy is going to be along the lines of those aeroplane safety instructions--"Please put on your mask before you help others on with their masks." To wit--one needs to get one's house in order before one can start helping other people. So I'm going to stop feeling guilty about not saving the world, yet.

thinking, overthinking?

Of course, ones life will never be _entirely_ in order. But if one has a stable enough base then one can help out somewhat.

Of course, there's also the question of how much help actually helps, and how much just fosters dependency.

The more I've learned, the less confident I've been in my actions in helping people.

(Well, when it comes to some kinds of help - I'm still happy to give to charities that help people with learning difficulties into jobs.)

This is exceedingly true--I think what I'm saying is that I'm not going to allow it to debilitate me. As in, stop feeling like I'm not doing anything useful or constructive just because I'm not doing things that have great consequences.

Whoa.
Just remembered I had a dream recently that I was on a plane and pulled out the mask and tried to put it on and was told off by the crew for doing so...
Hmm. Wonder what it means.

Fix your background attachment, would you? You could consider that your mask of the day :p
