Day One.       Day Five.      Day Nine.
Day Two.      Day Six.        Day Ten.
Day Three.    Day Seven.
Day Four.      Day Eight.

“But it isn’t pretend.” Quietly, Redd shook her head. “It can only go down so low, Maria, and then the only place left to go is up.”
Maria looked at Redd for a long moment, something hard growing in her chest at that sullen, reserved tone, distant with despair. “Redd,” Maria said her name softly, like a gentle embrace, since she couldn’t actually give one to her sister physically. She realized suddenly and all too late that the drinks were just as much of an exterior barrier as they were internal remedies. With a glass in the way, Maria was barred from just reaching out and gathering Redd into her arms with comfort. Instead, Redd just huddled around her cocktail, sipping it gingerly with her eyes focused toward the wide windows, but not seeing anything outside of it. It had always been like this. Redd was so bright and friendly by nature, but the moment it was made clear that there was something wrong, she shut up inside of herself like some meek and heavily armoured turtle.
However, the fact that Maria even saw this meant something. Redd would never allow a single citizen to ever see her looking so plainly doubtful and worried and just plain sad.
But it passed. Redd shook her head as if waking from a dream and smiled faintly at Maria, the mask starting to lift and leaving only a trace of her foreboding in her eyes. “Well,” she said, “it isn’t like anybody said this was going to be an easy job, did they?”
“You’re working too hard.” It burst from Maria unbidden, with a gentle, important insistence.

OH HAI THAR. Remember this? So, I haven't updated in approximately twelve days (almost two weeks, holy crap). Yes, that is reflective of how busy I've been lately. However, I have been plugging away at small little bits (barely pages), but every bit counts? I figured as long as I'm still writing, it counts, even if I don't have time to type it up. However, today, I actually met my soft goal for the first time since Day 5 (OUCH), and I'm hoping to get some more typed up and, eventually this week, maybe I'll even catch up. I think I just needed to get through Chapter IV, which I'm not fond of, and get to chapter VI, which is just beautiful, if I do say so myself.

ANYWAY, back to the writing a bit more before typing up another part.

Also, BRIAN, Day 2 link should be fixed and actually go to Day 2 now, so you can get back to reading. :)
