Paid

I just read the EBA, apparently I've got a 3.5% pay rise coming at the end of the month.
and another 3% in June.
This can only be a good thing.

EBA pay rises a good. Two in six months is very good. (Ours only show up once a year.)

Unless of course it triggers you into a higher HECS bracket and you lose the cash in HECS/tax.

I'm already screwed on the HECS anyway, cos of the extra duties i'm now doing.
The 2nd rise won't kick in till next financial year, when i'm TOTALLY screwed on the HECS front, as there is a similar sized raise next year.
btw, i think they're renaming it HELP now.
Which either displays a warped sense of humour on behalf of the ATO, or makes them pricks.

I just distinctly remember getting a bout of higher duties and ending up with a smaller pay packet - it triggered me into the next HECS bracket and also the extra medicare levy. So very annoying.

I think I saw something about the HECS/HELP rename and I'm going with the pricks explanation. None of my dealings with the ATO (which haven't all been as a taxpayer) indicate any kind of sense of humour.
