In-Character Information
Name: Subterranean Lava Dragon: Volvagia Barba
Game/Series: Legend of Zelda (Ocarina of Time)
Canon Point: A little after Link gets sealed in the Temple of Time
Age & Grade Level: About a thousand years old maybe. OLD. Freshman
Personality: Volvagia may look like a short-tempered, hot-headed dragon, but in reality he's actually rather collected and quiet. It's only when his possessions and territory get threatened by anything when he loses his cool and starts destroying things. He's not spoiled, no. He's just very, very possessive of his things, mainly the Death Mountain back in Hyrule at the moment. One step into his area, and expect to see the deadly glowing eyes of the Lava Dragon before you are burnt to a crisp.
Since he's almost an immoral dragon, or at least a creature who can live for countless amount of years, he cares little about lives of other people. To him, they're best to be used as food source. He doesn't act on this opinion, though, since he is well aware of his limits from being defeated once before. Other than the great Ganondorf himself, Volvagia considers all other living things to be worthless to pay attention to. With this very reason, he prefers to be on his own as much as he can.
He's a prideful dragon. He thinks very highly of himself, that it is impossible to beat him with the exception of a certain hammer. He knows well enough of his limits though, so if someone were to best him in anything, he'd think of you as something higher than food. He won't ever accept any defeat, so in this sense he may also be stubborn. Because he thinks he's all high and mighty except against Ganondorf, he will not listen to anyone other than Ganondorf. Why go against someone who can wipe out your existence just as easily as bringing you back to life? Volvagia is not that stupid.
While he considers all other living things to be food (mainly Gorons), he's not a completely heartless monster. If you respect him and his possessions well enough, there is a chance that he may take a liking to you. Unfortunately, he has no knowledge about friendship and any kind of relationship for the longest time due to living in the depths of an active volcano for so long, that he would have no clue how to interact with others other than inflicting fear.
Some likes and dislikes: He likes roasted rocks and meat. The best dish for him is a roasted Goron since they're both flesh and rock or something. Of course, Smash Academy wouldn't let him eat those, so he settles for normal roasted meat/rocks. Having no teeth, he crushes the rocks and meat into small bite-size pieces and then swallowing each piece. Being a human will give him so interesting outlook on food and this thing called chewing with TEETH. He loves hot places, especially inside a living volcano. He could stand some cold places, but he prefers to not go to any cold places if given the chance. He finds frozen food like ice cream and shaved ice to be really annoying since they melt into liquid once it gets to his hands because of his hair. He also can't handle water very well: if he gets completely soaked with water, his hair, which is made out of magic and fire, would die out and make him bald. Sob his beautiful fiery hair sob.
Backstory: There was a legend handed down from generation to generation among the Gorons, of a deadly fire-breathing dragon which dwelled deep within the depths of Death Mountain. This dragon was said to be defeated with the Goron’s legendary weapon and peace had arrived to the Goron tribe. This dragon was Volvagia. Gorons thought this tale was just fiction, until Volvagia was revived by the hands of Ganondorf.
This story was, indeed, true. Volvagia had resided in the Death Mountain, ruling the entire mountain area of Hyrule. He had done whatever he wanted while he ruled the mountains, giving out ruthless orders to those who lived in the caves of the mountain to fulfill and kill and eat those who could not accomplish. He lived up to the name of evil and ruled over his pawns with fear. That was, until someone stood up against him. Yes, there were few who had tried to rebel in the past, but they were all consumed before they could even put a scratch on his body. He had thought this one would end up with the same result as well, but he had underestimated the opponent. This Goron had the Megaton Hammer, and with that powerful weapon he was defeated.
Years passed. Who knows how long it was. He suddenly found himself opening his eyes and seeing an unfamiliar Gerudo standing before him. Who dares set foot in his lair! With a roar, he spewed out fire towards the intruder, only to have it get deflected and found himself being placed at the tip of the sword. He was then told of what had happened, that he had died once before and he was revived by this Gerudo man, Ganondorf. At first he didn't believe the words coming out of this man's mouth, but as he took the time to let it sink, he realized it was in fact, true. He remembered the last strike on the head and how he had fallen into the lava before the world before his eyes went black. Then this man had the power to revive him after so many years of being dead? He didn't know what exactly this Gerudo man was, but he could tell this man had some kind of strong power inside and this power was something he could not go against. Power of the Gods...?
The Lava Dragon's tasks were to protect the Fire Temple from any intruders and eat the captured Gorons to demonstrate Ganondorf's wrath to the others living in Hyrule. He gladly accepted it; it was no different than what he had done in the past, and this was his chance to get his revenge on the dreaded Gorons for defeating him in the past. And so he ruled the mountain with fear.
Until one day, when he was stretching out his body by flying around his throne room. He did not notice something was different until he dove into one of the many lava pits that were in the room. Or at least he thought he dove into a lava pit. But all of the sudden, he was in the air, diving down towards some school! Did he accidentally go through a magic portal??
Anything Else?:
-
His gijinka design. He doesn't have it when he first comes to SBG, but will gain his human form later when he meets Ganondorf or something.
- He can breathe fire in his human form, but it will not be as strong as when he's in his dragon form. He can probably float in the air, but not for too long.
- He takes on his dragon form for battles.
- His charm points: eyes, hair, horns. Do not touch the hair or horns.
- Because his powers are limited as human, if he gets drenched in water, his fire hair sizzles out and becomes bald (as seen in the ref picture).
