OOC: Cally's first letter is not based in canon. The second letter contains spoilers for the season three episode Dirty Hands.

I would've taken Nicky and left, if that had happened. But it wouldn't have, because the moment he started threatening your life, all the fight left me.

Some time later, a folded sheet with Cally's name on it is delivered by a Marine.

Dear Cally,

I don't expect you to feel anything other than hurt for what I did. Nor do I expect you to understand how badly it hurt me to have to do it.

But let me make one thing very clear.

You are not "easily replaceable", not as a tech specialist, a crew member, a mother or a human being. I do not and never will see any member of my crew as a statistic. You are not expendable.

But neither are the tens of thousands of lives that were put at risk that day.

Sincerely,

Admiral William Adama

The following evening, she's once again in front of the admiral's quarters. This time she looks the guard in the eye and hands him the note, with a photograph tucked in.

Sir,

I'm sorry for the trouble I've caused you. I know it's been hard for you, but I keep forgetting that I can't even begin to manage just how hard it is for you and the President. I meant it when I said that I forgave you, but the note I sent you was an act of unnecessary cruelty and for that I owe you an apology. I forgot for a little while that you are a man who cares deeply for every member of his crew. I forgot that I looked at you just a week before the workers' strike and entrusted my son to you. You're still the man who's been taking care of all of us, no matter what the cost ( ... )
