May not be an allergy to your medication. It could be a reaction to an injection. Lots of people have a bad reaction to skin lesions (consider what happens to the skin following an insect bite). Since the problem is topical, use something like E45 cream or wash with tea tree oil.
Also consider changing your medication to stuff taken orally. Ask your GP if that's possible.
I've spoken to the GP and they said stop taking and see if the rash fades. It wasnt just at the injection site, it was started to appear in other areas such as my wrists and hands. The skin on my hands has become incredibly dry and tight, I can only attribute it to the Byetta.
I stopped taking it yesterday and today the rash has gone. I will contact the diabetes nurse Monday to see if there is a way around it by taking anti-histermines (SP?) and E45 as you suggested. I will also ask if it could be a reaction to the injecting as you mentioned.
I'm already on the highest dose of oral medications (or so I am told): 6mg Glimepride and 1000mg Metformin. The Glimepiride has only just been increased but I had been those two with Piaglitazone 30mg for six months which worked for a while before the blood sugars gradually went up again.
Thanks for your suggestions, I will ask when I speak to the nurse. x
