Adventures of Harry the Hamster

I'd had a long day today.

I put off doing last night's dinner dishes until just before dinner tonight. So, washing dishes and pots and pans, just to use the same dishes, pots and pans again. Then I'm doing the dishes, pots and pans again and the kids are pissing me off because they keep making too much noise and I've got all the doors and ( Read more... )

The downside to hamsters... adrock59 July 28 2003, 18:22:12 UTC
This is why we love having rats, since they're highly intelligent you can train them to respond to their name. We have one who loves to get out and run around in our kitchen, so everytime we notice the white rat missing from the cage we start calling out "Baby Girl" and we usually find where she's been hiding out at. I had hamsters as a kid and they were mean, so I'm glad we have more sociable animals. Glad that you were able to find him all safe and sound, and why would Austin make suggestions like the dog ate him with the kids listening in such close proximity? Doesn't he know it just stresses them, as well as you, out more? Men, you can't live with 'em and you can't train them properly.

I've always had rats, too. We had two until just this past year, when they both died. But my little girl had been wanting a hamster for so long, ever since she started watching a new japanese animated cartoon called "Hamtaro."

So we got her a hamster, made sure it was a male, since the females are the really mean ones, and everything's been okay so far.

As far as Austin and his comments go, sometimes he speaks before he thinks. He likes to tease and poke fun, and I don't think he thought Madison would get so upset. The older two knew he was joking, but the four year old flipped. Yeah, I wasn't happy about it, and I'm always getting on him about watching what he says, since my 4 year old is sensitive.
