Hmmm, I'll refrain from bouncing off the walls just yet. I think Card has been talking about this for a while. The only problem is that he was never able to find a kid capable of acting as Ender. I mean, most adults would probably do an awful job. He said once that the kid in Star Wars could do it, but I think personally he was just desperate. So while a screenplay would be one step closer, I think casting is gonna be a big hurdle. But...I hope.
this is funny, but when I was in college, i went to see Mr. Card give a reading himself at Powells books. It would have been 1999 or 2000, and they had been working on the movie for a few years. He said the little boy in Star Wars episode I, was slated to play Ender. If I recall, it was really difficult because he wanted to be a part of the movie and was concerned about creative changes. They were going to change characters and add in some new ones. I assumed the project completely fell through.
