RESET

There was this moment
all I wanted was for you to see me
to touch and taste
dancing around in circles
the rhythm of youthful heartbeats
tunes reserved solely for us
begging, cloying, pleading
-wordlessly
to be loved

-RESET-

There was this moment
all I wanted was the phone to ring
to listen and talk
pattering on in figure eights
the rhythm of our voices
in tune with thrumming palpitations
longing, dreaming, hoping
-impatiently
to be near

-RESET-

There was this moment
all I wanted was to be over it
to forget and renew
fighting over telephones
the rhythm of raised voices
screaming, hinting, arguing
-fruitlessly
to have you back

-RESET-

There was this moment
all I wanted was to speak again
to smile and laugh
walking around in hazes
the rhythm of the silence haunting
pleading, scheming, hoping
-futilely
to not be alone

-RESET-

There was this moment
all I wanted was to be with you
to be and to feel
singing circular songs
tunes of redemption
the rhythm of renewed conversation
dreaming, believing, praying
-naively
to go back in time

-RESET-

There was this moment
all I wanted was absolution
forgiveness and progress
dancing around elliptical regrets
the rhythm of cloying choking sobs
daring, breathing, crying
-angrily
to not lose you again -- forever

-RESET-

There was this moment
after the fall
realization came hunting
I knew
the moments between are barriers
you end - I begin
WE were a false start
friendship and memories
cyclical, forever hovering
the rhythm of our lives
smiling, longing, missing
-always

The truth
soul mates need not always couple
friendship need never end
And the grace of your presence in my life
is all I'll ever need
