and let me leave. You can have Karla. I just want my heart back.''>Hermione had been out all day. Theo was at work and she had the day off, leaving the man partnerless. She glanced at the clock and noted that Theo was probably at his lunch break and he had invited her to go see him during lunch. They would be meeting outside the Unspeakable meeting room and leaving from there. She had been shopping with Ginny all day, laughing and giggling.
They returned to her house, throwing their bags down as Ginny helped Hermione find something to wear. She raided the closet, before pulling out a red jumper and a black pleated skirt, with black socks and black shoes. Hermione grinned, before pulling it on and standing in the mirror. Fixing her hair and makeup, she asked Ginny to come along. Together, they Apparated.
Looking around, Hermione didn't see a head or hand of her husband, before sighing and absent mindedly glancing around again. She had a lot on her mind recently--having to talk to Ginny and Harry about her situation. She was finally pregnant and was happy with it, but wasn't quite sure how Theo would take it. Sucking in a deep breath, she gathered her thoughts, before noticing a scrap of note paper on the desk. Curiously, she picked it up.
Hermione--
Lunch with co-workers. Feel free to drop by. In "The Glowing Goblet." Love you.
Theodore.
Hermione tapped her chin in thought. Why would he go on and have lunch without her? And then why would he leave the note somewhere so inconspicuous? Hermione prodded Ginny and showed her the note.
"The Glowing Goblet it is, Hermione," she said, before Disapparating.
They appeared a few paces away from the diner, the crowds of Hogsmeade pressing against the girls. Ginny and Hermione pushed against them, before opening the door. The place was warm and cozy, the front being a diner and the back serving as a bed and breakfast. Hermione looked around, Ginny tugging on her arm.
"Hermione, you may want to leave." The brunette shook her head.
"Why?" Her eyes looked in the direction that Ginny's were fastened to, and was shocked. Sitting there was Theo, across from a pretty coworker that Hermione had been paired up numerous times with, named Karla Loise. She grinned, laying her hand in his lap, before reaching over and kissing him. Theo didn't seem to fight her away, but returned the sentiment.
"I--I think I will." Hermione turned for the door, Ginny as well, before Karla looked up and squealed.
"Hermione, lovely, come join us!" Hermione turned to look back at Theo and Karla. She glared at Theo, before storming out of the diner, Ginny following.
When the redhead finally had gotten outside, she didn’t spotted Hermione in the crowds, so she Apparated to her home. Tripping, she found that Hermione had collapsed right there in the doorway, sobbing. Ginny knelt down beside her and wrapped her arms around her friend, rocking her back and forth.
"Hermione, don't do this to yourself. Think of the baby..." The girl didn't know what else to say, so she kept quiet and hugged her friend comfortingly. Hermione sniffled, pulling out of the hug.
"I can't help it. Did he think I would forget to meet him for lunch or something? Or overlook the note?" The brunette wiped her eyes with the back of her hand.
"He's breaking my heart," Hermione said quietly, leaning back against the wall.
Ginny placed a hand on her shoulder. "He won't break you--not ever. I won't let him." Hermione smiled at her friend. The door opened and in entered Theo, looking concerned at her. She growled and stood alongside Ginny.
"Don't think I didn't see you and Karla," she said viciously, glaring at him. Theo neared her, but it was Ginny who pointed her wand at him.
"You've done enough. Just leave Hermione be." Theo glared at her.
"Stay out of this," he said, before flicking his hand at her and started towards Hermione. She turned and ran up the stairs; Theo followed with Ginny close behind. Arriving in their bedroom, Theo warded and locked the door, before striding into their room where Hermione was knelt in front of an open dresser pulling clothes into a suitcase. Theo wrapped his hand around her forearm and pulled, but Hermione struggled.
"Leave me alone! I'm leaving, Theodore! Let me go!" She said, pulling away from him. She could hear Ginny slamming her fists against the door, screaming for Theo to let her in. She closed her suitcase as he pulled her to him.
"Don't,” he said simply, but she shook her head, tears in her eyes.
"You hurt me..." She said softly.
"You broke me, Theodore. I don't want to be broken. Just leave me alone and let me leave. You can have Karla. I just want my heart back." She stepped away from him, shaking her head, before Apparating away. Theo growled and incinerated the dresser drawer that her clothes had come out of, before throwing the door open. Ginny stopped mid knock.
"What did you do to her?" Ginny ground out, her fists clenched at her side.
"She's gone," was all he said, before pushing past her. She stood in the doorway, looking around. In the bottom of the drawer, where the fire was dying down, was something that Theo had overlooked. A pregnancy test. Ginny glared, before turning and slamming the door. Something shattered. Physically, she had knocked Hermione and Theo's wedding picture off of the dresser. But emotionally, Hermione was broken.
