Hermione sat on the park bench. Fifteen.
Fifteen minutes ago, her heart had been broken. It had been shattered; stepped on; fractures, whatever. It wasn't whole and that's the point. Sixteen minutes ago, her heart was alive. It was beating full of love and pure unadulterated bliss. Her heart was happy.
And now, Hermione swore that she didn't have a heart at all. It had disappeared along with all of her self respect and common sense.
Fifteen. She was fifteen when she fell in love and fifteen when she fell out of it. Fifteen minutes made her happy and fifteen minutes destroyed her life.
Fifteen times he had hurt her and only fourteen times had he apologized for it. Fifteen times had he left her alone and only fourteen had he come back to find her. Fifteen times had he broken her heart and never had he tried to fix it. And fifteen times had she cried in the corner, but he had only found her once.
Fifteen times had she told herself she deserves better, yet fifteen times had she put up with him. Now, she was done. Fifteen was the past, the present, and hopefully out of her future.
Because only one time had Hermione Granger denied Draco Malfoy what he wanted. Her.
